The Joy of Color: A Dance for the Soul

Have you ever walked into a room and instantly felt lighter, happier, or even more energized just because of the colors around you? That’s the magic of color! It has a profound impact on our emotions and well-being. When you surround yourself with vibrant colors, your brain releases dopamine—the “feel-good” chemical that can instantly elevate your mood and spark joy.

As an artist, my goal is to harness the power of color to bring that exact feeling of joy and peace to you. I want my art to be more than just something you look at—I want it to make you feel. Color isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about creating a mood, a sensation, and an experience.

Layers of Color add so much depth

In my latest series, "Lively Dance", I’ve used a wide variety of bright, energetic colors: bold blues, fiery oranges, playful pinks, fresh greens, sunny yellows, crisp whites, and grounding blacks. Each hue was chosen not just for its visual appeal, but for its ability to stir up positive emotions, creating a joyful, celebratory atmosphere. The colors swirl and dance across the canvas, inviting the viewer to dive in and explore.

But there’s more to this series than just color. As you gaze at the artwork, you may notice words written in ink, carefully hidden in various spaces.

These words aren’t immediately obvious—they’re meant to be discovered, adding an element of intrigue and engagement to the piece. It’s like a secret dance, where you have to pay attention and look closely to uncover the full experience.

The use of art resin adds another layer to the artwork, giving it depth and a high-gloss finish that reacts beautifully with light and shadows. The glossy coat enhances the vibrancy of the colors, making them come alive in different lighting and creating a sense of movement, just like a dance. The textures and the reflections work together to form a dynamic, multi-dimensional piece that’s constantly changing, inviting you to experience something new each time you look at it.

The joy I felt creating this series was so contagious that I couldn’t stop at just one painting. I continued with the same vibrant colors and techniques, producing three more pieces in the series—each one a unique burst of energy and emotion. Together, these works form "Lively Dance", a celebration of color, movement, and the joy of being alive.

Imagine a stage for the colors to come together and shimmy in a lively dance of their own. Pink, blue, green, orange, white, and yellow all come together in an unpredictable and exhilarating swirl of pigments that move across the canvas in a way that’s both organic and mesmerizing.

What inspired this dynamic series? Well, it all started with the long, cold winter we’ve had this year. With more snow than we've seen in a while,

I found myself longing to drown out the grey, desolate days and anticipate the vibrant return of nature.

I wanted to infuse my space with colors that would spark joy and mirror the energy of life returning in full color, just like the flowers and trees coming to life after a long, winter slumber.

But there’s even more coming! I’ve been busy redecorating my home to surround myself with my favorite feel-good colors. I’ll share the full reveal in a future blog post that explores how I’ve used these same vibrant hues to transform my living space into a sanctuary of color and light. It’s been a journey of creating an environment that aligns with my style and belief system—the power of color to uplift and energize.

Creating this series was a thrilling adventure—a dance of colors, textures, and light. The layers built up and intertwined, creating a visual rhythm that’s impossible to ignore. And of course, the art resin added that final touch, making the colors and textures pop, reflecting light, and giving the work a playful shine.
