Where Courage Takes Root is a story about bravery that begins in the dark — in those unseen places where God strengthens her long before the world notices.
This one-of-a-kind hat begins with a true black felt base, intentionally chosen because black symbolizes depth, grounding, and the fertile soil where roots grow. Over the black base, soft washes of teal and emerald were added to create richness and dimension, allowing the colors to shift gently as the light moves.
Across the brim, intuitive florals bloom in soft coral, peach, rose, and aqua, painted freely by hand. Their presence symbolizes courage emerging slowly — first beneath the surface, then in quiet blossoms of bravery.
Around the crown is a layered sari silk band in deep indigo, teal, and violet-green, adding an echo of mystery and strength. Beneath the ribbon, two hand-cut fragments of one of my original canvas paintings anchor the entire piece like symbolic roots.
The silver infinity Hope pin rests above them, representing the truth that courage and hope are intertwined — one strengthening the other.
